TSA   Technology Student Association

5th Grade

The Technology Student Association is an opportunity for 5th graders to participate in additional engineering opportunities. The students participate in a catapult challenge at the regional TSA conference. At this conference they have the opportunity to see some of the middle and high school competitions. In addition, they compete in the Play with Your Fruits and Vegetables Challenge.  In the Spring the team has an opportunity to build a working model of a water tower for competition.

Water Tower Competition

The students had to plan, build and test model water towers. The towers were required to hold one gallon of water and the tower had to drain in the most efficient way possible. The towers were judged on structural integrity, stability, creativity and drainage efficiency.

Competing at the TSA catapult competition. They had to create a catapult that would be accurate, but also powerful enough to shoot the greatest distance.

The TSA members built catapults from a kit in preparation for the competition.
